B Test Training

A note for branch members who want to attain the B Test. Want to try and get groups of 4, and develop times of training that best suits candidates and parents.

The 'B' Standard Test should be looked upon as another GCSE, working towards the level takes two years from the passing of C Plus. A much greater understanding of how horses go and a maturity that allows the candidate to speak with confidence is needed.
Regular training can be done in groups of 4 at Westwood Lodge during the summer holidays, 2 hour sessions riding and H&P Care with Nikki Herbert. Cost is £20x4 per session (£80 for 2hrs)
Preparation before training : read The Manual, Vital Statistics, Body Basics, B Test Sylabi Red and Brown/Beige Cards also a comparison of C and B Tests and Organisation of the B Test. There is also a large working notebook available from Trish Adams. All details on PC website.
Riders should try to spend time helping in a variety of yards, watching the farrier and vet at work and ride as many different types of horse and pony as possible. This is a practical test and riders are expected to be quick and efficient at tasks and to ride in balance with a clear knowledge of what is happening underneath them.
