The Blankney Hunt Pony Club Dressage Competition

Saturday 7th July

All the girls in the junior and novice dressage team were encouraged to enter the Blankney Dressage competition, for fun and experience, and so they did, in fact Burghley's turn out was only exceeded the hosts! After a week of worrying if it would be cancelled due to rain, the clouds passed and the sun shone for us.

Everyone had made an effort, ponies scrubbed clean, platted up and looking pretty. The girls were smartly dressed and full of excitement.

The ponies were warmed up amongst the chatter, a good team spirit was evident, and everyone knew who the Burghley riders were.Parents congregated to chat, compare notes and drink coffee. Each girl rode their test whilst the others watched, encouraged and supported.

Constance Copestake and Issy Henriques entered the under 10 Pony Club Introductory Test 2007. Constance took a first and Issy got third. Both were thrilled with their rosettes (Mums more interested in the score sheets.)

Four girls entered the over 10 Pony Club Introductory Test 2007. All the tests were going smoothly, until Jigsaw decided to see if Lisa could really sit to bucking! Robbie searched the dressage sheet for "Buck on a short rein between F and A", but alas, he couldn't find it! Lisa stayed on board, but was not a happy bunny when she left the arena. The Burghley girls results were:- Lily Whitworth-Biehler 1st, Harriet Vickers 2nd, Gemma Ennis 4th and Lisa Reid 6th. Once again big smiles all round that became even bigger when the girls realised that they had won the team medal.

Ten girls entered the Pony Club Novice Dressage Test 2004 and each rode a good test. Sam Waters was placed 2nd.

Once again score sheets were shared round and lots of helpful comments made.

Sam Waters and Emily Henriques entered the Pony Club Novice Dressage Championship Test 2005. It was Emily's first time out competing Bailey but she did it with a smile and rode a good test. Sam had a great ride, on her horse with only 3 shoes, and pulled a 6th.

Everyone agreed that we had a good day and gained valuable experience for future competitions.

Bella getting her priorities right - sleep when you can...

and Alice getting her priorities right.....

.....eat when you can.

A big thank you and well done to all the girls and their parents for contributing to a great day.
