Hi my name is Diana Bevan, I have written a few other blogs before but never one about polocrosse!

On monday 16th feb my mum organised a polocrosse rally. Jake, Bethany, Lizzie and I (and some other people from bulby) all went to Laughton Manor from 12-3 but it went on for half an hour longer. We had Kim Lampard (u21 england polocrosse coach) for the whole session. For an hour and a half we did groundwork with passing, the reaction game and the number game, Kim's son played with us, along with the commentator at pc px championships (Chris), then at 1.30 we had lunch and a bit later we tacked up the horses, bandaged their legs and plaited their tails. First we warmed up while passing to each other then we were on a circle and were passing to Kim and Christopher (Kim's son) on first the off (right) side apart from Bethany being a lefty, then the near (left) side. Then we had to drag the ball across the school (for control of the ball) then did some really tight weaving (for control of the pony). Lizzie had to go after this so only myself, Jake, Bethany and another girl who is part of bulby (who is really good) along with two other riding school members were left. Since there was 6 of us we played a chukka (5-8 mins). After this we all packed up after a long day with very tired ponys!

I would like to day a big thankyou to my mum for organising it and Kim for coaching us!

ps. Even if polocrosse isn't your main discipline, give it a go. Your pony doesn't need to be special, my pony hated it at first but he got used to the ball and the stick and is now much better! It's different to everyday riding, just like gymkhana when u have one hand on the reins and the other hand doing something else so give it a go and do something different!
