Hi Everybody,
The area dressage is coming up on the
24th July at Scunthorpe. It's quite far
up north, but worth the experience and
some of you might even get to the Pony
Club Championships. Apart from that, it
is good for all of you to focus on
flat-work as it helps with all aspects
of riding. Good dressage is not just a
matter of "flicking a switch and/or
having a formula" but there are certain
basics every rider should have. Namely,
a kind and good understanding of your
pony's/horse's psyche, a good position
(no flat non-communicating hands,
stirrups too short so you lean forward
and put too much weight on your pony's
fore-hand, looking where you want to go,
sit up etc. etc.) Think before you do
and/or ask your instructor if in doubt.
Your pony is only trying to please you
and if he/she has a bit of a strong
reaction to "something" it is because of
the lack of understanding and being
distressed. Strong bits/draw reins etc.
will never solve any problems. Too make
a potentially very very long story
short, please come to the trainings, and
take advantage of the opportunities our
Pony Club has to offer you. These
trainings are open to anybody happy to
canter off the lead-rein and naturally,
groups will be arranged to ability and
age. Please do not forget, should you
want to go the Area Dressage on the 24th
July you have to have attended at least
3 discipline trainings and be considered
an appropriate representative of our
branch.
