Hi I’m Lucy and I’m 9 years old
and I’m going to tell you how fun it is to be a games member!
Last year I had a new pony called Padula Party Pants, or Pants as she is known at home and Mum thought it would be a good idea if I went to the games training as I like gymkhana games. So of I went and I had never felt so nervous before, the seniors seemed so good and fast and I really didn’t want to get out of a trot! Within a few weeks I was cantering in between the poles and even managing to do it one handed!
The games has really helped my confidence, I really was quite nervous you know, as you really build up a fab friendship with your pony and you work as a team with all your friends. You forget about wants happening around you, you just kick and ride forward it couldn’t be easier! Last year we all went off to Bakewell in Derbyshire for the Area. It was an amazing day, I’m not sure who was more excited, me Pants or my Mum! we came 3rd and the whole day was just brilliant(we also won the tack and turn out but this year we want it to be the other way round!)
Games training is held throughout the next few months and hopefully will now be in the Park. The trouble is, we haven’t got enough junior members so please come and give it a try join me and Pants all you juniors (I have great fun!) Sometimes my mum gives you chocolate cake!
Do you know what my aim is? One day I want to be as good as Lisa Reid and Alice Turner, they really are good! Good luck Alice for your England trial.
