Oakley friendly 19 April 2008
-we got three blogs for this one, so we put them all together!
From Judy Turner:
A big, big thank you to our new trainers Emma & Claire A, and Claire D for a great day at the Oakley last Saturday. The seniors had their fair share of bad luck in a couple of heats which meant they just failed to make a couple of the finals, but they all rode really well and put any disappointments behind them and got on with the next race.
The juniors I hear, achieved their goal and their trainer had to 'cough up' with the prize she had put within their reach if they rode well. Now for the next challenge. From Jake:
Hi im Jake Webb, most of you will know me. Well, on Saturday Jacob Windsor, George Andrew, Lisa Reid, Alice Turner, and I had a mounted games competition at Oakley. Although I was a bit nervous it was great fun and Branston, my games pony, proved himself once again. There were 21 teams including us and most of them were super good, so we expecting to come in the last five. But we won. Only joking we came 11th. So although it was a long journey we had a great time. And we hope are junior team did just as well or even better.
And from Claire Daley
A freezing cold and wet afternoon plus a blow out on the way for 3 of the members and a fall a piece by the other 2 members before any games had started did not dampen our juniors spirit for their first official games friendly although it did little for my nerves! The team of Greta and Silas Mason, Elizabeth Bowen-West, Lucy Daly and Jo Thompson all rode really well in a seriously tough competition against teams who have regularly qualified for the championships finishing just inside the top 10. I would like to say a big well done to you all and a thank you for all showing such great team spirit and care to one another, it certainly made my day so much more enjoyable and a team that the Burghley can be proud of.
