Our first rally with our new ponies!

By Emily Lloyd and Catherine Davies

This was our first rally with our new ponies and both had butterflies in our stomach. We started the rally by warming up with some flat work and luckily we had a great teacher Linda Pearce.

My pony Stan (Catherine) doesn’t like standing around as he goes to sleep so my mum told Linda and she kept us on the move. This was my first ever cross-country schooling with Stan and we had never jumped this big. At first I made a few mistakes but when Linda realised what I was doing wrong she soon corrected me. Then Stan and I came on leaps and bounds. We really enjoyed doing the three big steps up and down, the keyhole and the beehive into the water.

My pony Perry (Emily) is more experienced than me, however today with Linda’s help, I jumped bigger than I had intended on jumping. Firstly I jumped a big log, which I was slightly apprehensive about. I also jumped a beehive, the keyhole that had a big drop on the other side. My favourite part of the rally was when we I jumped more than two jumps in a row.

We would both like to say a big thank you to Linda Pearce for coming on such a cold day and to teach us a really fun rally!
