Points Trophies : Awarded for points received for turn out of horse or pony, tack and rider at rallies. We also recognise the member who has attended the most number of rallies in their age group with a separate award. There are 4 catagories, and this year due to the vast numbers of members in certain age groups we have grouped them as follows, 8yrs & under, 11yrs & under, 14yrs & under, and 15yrs & over. So……

Due to holiday commitments Jessica Varley was the sole Burghley representative. She won the Junior Class and achieved best junior run and shoot.

Jessica was then selected for the Area 6 team that won the INTER AREA TETRATHLON COMPETITION hosted by us at WITTERING 4 the cross country, run, & shoot & OUNDLE SCHOOL 4 swimming

JUMPCROSS 9^th August

JumpCross Review 2007.

The efforts and success of Burghley Members in JumpCross Team competitions during 2007 deserves a few minutes of your time.

During the Autumn of 2006, we finished as underdogs to Fitzwilliam teams who finished 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd with our only team in 4^th place

However, we won the next competition in October 2006, and began 2007 well with a couple of wins.

Following our win in the final JumpCross competition on 20^th October, Burghley teams completed a unique achievement in winning all 6 competitions held at Grange Farm during 2007.

In fact, we also recorded wins at Intro level during the August Area 6 JumpCross competition, and again at the final competition on 20^th October when we entered Intro teams for the second time and recorded a one – two over the Fitzwilliam teams

A total of 35 Burghley members attended JumpCross training days, anywhere between once and six times – with some members also having private lessons. This represents a major commitment in time and money, and it’s the parents I would like to thank in addition to the members.

More than 30 members competed at JumpCross in team competitions during 2007 -

Now comes the difficult part….

We discussed at great length how we could make an award for JumpCross performance in 2007 –

· Impossible to make an award to the winning team as 10 members have featured in winning teams through the year at Group 3 level and a further 8 at Intro level

· Award needed to be to the Member who has contributed most to the success of Burghley Teams during 2007.

The winner of this JumpCross Trophy is someone who’s commitment to the PC Teams sometimes prevented her competing as an individual (although she still managed to finish 4th in the JumpCross League despite only 3 appearances)

Someone who represented the winning team on 5 occasions, and also the team finishing 2^nd on 3 occasions.

And so, despite having to overcome the family connection, the outstanding performer in Pony Club Team JumpCross competitions for 2007 is
