TO BE HELD IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BURGHLEY DRESSAGE AND SHOW JUMPING
COMPETITION.
SATURDAY 8TH MAY, BURGHLEY PARK PONY CLUB FIELDS.
Open to Burghley Branch members only. Two members of the pony club will be
chosen to go forward and compete in the final competition at Burghley Horse

P(UK) MINI Burghley Event Pony Competition 2010
Sunday 5th September
The Mini Burghley Event Pony Final is open to invited representatives from
affiliated Pony Clubs only
Horse/Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over not exceeding 153 cms
Riders 18 years and under before the 1st January in the current year
Minimum height of fences 84 cms - Maximum height of fences - 92 cms
 
Mini Burghley Events must be judged according to the Ponies (UK) Working
Hunter Pony Rules.

 METHOD OF JUDGING
¨    Horses/Ponies come into the ring individually and complete phase I -
the Dressage Test - then proceed immediately into Phase II - the Jumping
Phase. 
¨    There are no set penalties for a pole down or a run out - but three
refusals will result in elimination. The jumping course should be a mixture
of coloured and rustic obstacles and is designed to produce ten jumping
efforts
¨    Each jumping effort is marked out of 10 at the Judge's discretion
¨    The first fence must be a small inviting fence and may be jumped as a
practice fence
¨    The Judge does not have to sit at any appointed place for the Dressage
Test but may sit at the point they feel most appropriate - according to the
design and layout of the arena.

 Marks will be awarded for freedom and regularity of paces, harmony and
lightness of horse and rider.
Marks out of 70 will be awarded

RULES FOR THE P(UK) MINI BURGHLEY EVENT PONY
 1.      Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of Ponies (UK).
 2.      Any pony/horse taking the wrong course or jumping another fence
after completing the course will be eliminated.
 3.      If a pony/horse turns its quarters to a fence or has a complete
turn round, or crosses its tracks on approach to the next
          fence a refusal will be given.
 4.      Boots (including over-reach boots) are PERMISSIBLE in Phases I and
II. 
          AT NO OTHER TIME CAN A CHANGE OF TACK BE PERMITTED.
 5.      Ponies/horses displaying disobedience - mounted or dismounted -
during either phase will be eliminated.
 6.      Competitors may walk the course dismounted before their class,
correctly dressed.
 7.      The fall of horse and/or rider anywhere on the course will result
in elimination.           
          The Rider may not attempt another fence but must leave the arena
immediately on foot.
 8.     In the event of equality of marks, the TOTAL mark from Phase Two
(Jumping) will take precedence.  If there is still a tie, the total marks
from Phase One (Dressage) will be taken into consideration.  If there is
still a tie after all three phases, the Judge's decision is final.
9.    Blunt Spurs may be worn
10.  Ordinary Snaffle Bridles OR Double Bridles only are permitted - please
see diagram below.
11.  Flash, Drop or Cavesson nosebands only are permitted with a Snaffle
Bridle.
12.  Martingales, Bearing, Side or Running Reins of any kind are NOT
permitted.

Bits of rubber, nylon or other synthetic materials are permitted.  Bits must
be used in their manufactured condition without any addition to/on any part.
Only the bits that are illustrated are permitted, they may be used with any
of the cheeks or rings illustrated.
DOUBLE BRIDLES
Bits should follow the configuration of those illustrated below.  Rugby
Pelhams are NOT permitted.
