TEAM  SELECTION

The branch puts forward teams each year to Area 6 events in Mounted Games, Eventing, Polocrosse, Tetrathlon, Show Jumping, Horse and Pony Care and Dressage.  With the winning teams and individuals going on to the Pony Club Championships.

When putting yourself forward for selection it is about working together as a team.  Our discipline organisers will always try and accommodate as many branch members as possible.

To be considered for team places you need to be a paid up member of the branch by 31st January (unless you are a new member of the Pony Club).  Also you need to have attended three working rallies from 1st July the previous year, camps are also counted as one rally.  Sometimes the discipline organiser will run an open training rally.

It is helpful for discipline organisers to know your results and at what levels you have attained results at other competitions (good or indifferent).  Team trainers are looking for the riders/ponies who are out getting competition experience.

Sometimes we will hold Team Selection Trials, these are arranged and posted on the website and put out on the e-mail alert, with date and location.

If you wish to put yourself forward for team selection:-

1.  Fill in your training forms on the website, these are then forwarded to the discipline organiser with your contact details.

2.  Reply to e-mails from the discipline organisers and keep them informed on what you are doing, problems and results

3.  Make sure you are seen by the discipline team trainer.

4.  Make sure you are available for the Area dates.

5.  You and your steed are rallied up by the Area date.

6.  Gain experience by attending inter branch  and other competitions

7.  Help each other and work together as team players.

8.  If you put yourself forward for selection, you also have to be prepared to not be selected, especially when team places are over subscribed.  These are always tough decisions.

You should also check the main Pony Club website www.pcuk.org for the discipline rules.

GOOD LUCK
