On 28th & 29th July 2007 the Burghley Branch of the Pony Club hosted an Inter Area Mini & Junior Tetrathlon Competition, with very kind permission or Di and Robin Dunlop, at Grange Farm Wittering. The weather was glorious, the event conditions wonderful, and everyone enjoyed the weekend.
Saturday saw the 1st and 2nd phase of cross country riding, followed by swimming at Oundle School Swimming Pool, and on Sunday the 3rd and 4th phase of shooting, followed by running.
The Areas invited to take part were Area 6, 8, 11, 12, & 13. However, with various other events being cancelled due to the awful recent weather conditions, we also enabled the Intermediate and Open competitors to complete their qualification to the Championships by giving them the opportunity to ride their Cross Country phase.
Our Area 6 won all four classes of the Inter Area, junior boys, junior girls, mini boys, and mini girls, with Jessica Varley placed 1st individual, and in the winning mini girls team with best run. Well done Jessica.
Huge thanks go to all the people involved with the organising and running of this event, to Pete for his help with the course, all the Area 6 Tetrathlon Management Team, the fence judges and Cross Country coordinators, Lincs Paramedics, Oakham Vets, Adam Fitch (Farrier), Jo Varley and Jessica for sorting all the entries and times etc and more, and of course to all the competitors, their ponies and their families for making the weekend such a success.
Thank you.
Yvette.
