WARNING TO EVERYONE TRANSPORTING HORSES AND PONIES.

Yesterday on our way to Keysoe on the A1 we were pulled over by the police and taken to a multi- agency vehicle check. My car, trailer (inside and out) were thoroughly checked, even the fuel was checked. They also wanted to see the pony’s passport and checked the welfare of the pony. Fortunately I had the passport in the car by shear chance. If I had not produced the passport we would not have been allowed to move the pony until I had the passport. They were very pleasant but “dressage time” and “having a competition to go to” fell on deaf ears. You can carry a copy of the passport as long as it has been ok’d by the passport agency and clearly states ‘copy’ on it. Luckily I had set off in plenty of time and it didn’t affect the day too much (only my nerves).
